IT Companies in Cardiff

How many IT and cloud providers are there in Cardiff?

Compare the Cloud lists 93 IT and cloud providers working in Cardiff. As the Welsh capital and the seat of the Senedd, Cardiff has a provider base weighted towards organisations that serve devolved government, health boards, local authorities and the universities, alongside the private sector work found in any large city.

Does a Cardiff provider need to support Welsh language services?

Public bodies in Wales operate under Welsh language duties, so any system that faces the public or staff may need to work bilingually, and that is a technical requirement rather than a translation exercise. Ask whether the software supports a second interface language properly, how bilingual content is authored and kept in step, and whether error messages, notifications and printed output are covered as well as the main screens. Ask also whether support itself can be provided in Welsh if your organisation has committed to offering it.

How does buying technology for the Welsh public sector differ?

Procurement for Welsh public bodies is devolved, with its own notice publication and framework arrangements, so a supplier experienced only with English public sector buying may not know the route to market here. Ask which Welsh public sector customers the provider has worked with and under what arrangement, and whether it is already on the framework you intend to use. A supplier that has to be onboarded from scratch adds months that usually come out of the delivery timeline rather than the procurement one.

Does a Cardiff provider cover the rest of south Wales?

Coverage beyond Cardiff varies considerably and should not be assumed. A provider serving Cardiff readily may treat Newport and Bridgend as routine, the valleys as chargeable travel, and Swansea or west Wales as out of area entirely. If your organisation has sites across south Wales, ask for a guaranteed attendance time to each one individually and have those times written into the agreement rather than described in a meeting.
