IT Companies in Aberdeen

How many IT providers are there in Aberdeen?

Compare the Cloud lists 75 IT and cloud providers across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Aberdeen is a port city with a long energy industry history, and its provider base reflects that in a strong showing of security and infrastructure specialists relative to the size of the local population.

What should a business with remote or offshore sites check?

Organisations operating remote, offshore or rural sites should check how a provider handles locations with intermittent, satellite or heavily constrained connectivity, because most standard support models assume a stable office connection. Ask specifically how software updates, backups and security monitoring behave when a site is offline for days, and whether any part of the service degrades to unusable rather than simply pausing. Ask also who physically attends a remote site and what the realistic travel time is, not the contractual one.

How should Aberdeenshire businesses handle contractor and rotating staff access?

Businesses running rotating crews or heavy contractor workforces need account provisioning and removal to be fast and reliable, because the security exposure is people retaining access long after they have left. Ask a prospective provider how joiners and leavers are processed, how quickly, and who is authorised to request a change. A provider that cannot describe that process clearly at the sales stage will not run it well at scale.

Does Aberdeen's distance from other UK markets matter?

Aberdeen is a considerable distance from the other large UK technology markets, which affects on-site work far more than it affects anything delivered remotely. Cloud services, monitoring, cybersecurity operations and per-user support are unaffected by that distance and can sensibly be bought from anywhere in the UK. Hardware replacement, engineer attendance and equipment logistics are where a local presence earns its money, so it is worth splitting the requirement and judging each part on its own terms.
