UAE-IX powered by DE-CIX has reached a major milestone, becoming the first Internet Exchange in the Middle East to achieve 400 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity — with infrastructure already 800GE-ready. The exchange now connects over 110 networks, cementing its position as the region's largest peering hub.
Hyperscale Cloud On-Ramps
The exchange has expanded its ecosystem with on-ramps to major cloud providers including Alibaba Cloud and Google Cloud, enabling organisations across the Middle East to access hyperscale infrastructure with lower latency and improved performance.
This milestone underscores the rapidly growing demand for digital infrastructure in the Middle East. UAE-IX's 400GE capability ensures that networks and cloud providers in the region have the capacity they need to grow.
Why Internet Exchanges Matter
Internet Exchanges are critical infrastructure for the digital economy, enabling networks to exchange traffic locally rather than routing it through distant international hubs. This reduces latency, improves performance, and keeps data traffic within the region — increasingly important as data sovereignty requirements grow.
The expansion of UAE-IX reflects the UAE's ambition to be a global digital hub. With 400GE and 800GE-ready infrastructure, we are ensuring that the region's businesses and consumers benefit from world-class connectivity.
UAE-IX is operated by DE-CIX in partnership with du, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company.
