Scaleway to build its first supercomputer outside France, on AMD Instinct GPUs in Sweden

Scaleway has announced a new AI supercomputer in Sweden featuring AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and AMD's ROCm open software. It is the French cloud provider's first supercomputer deployment outside France, and the companies describe it as the first commercial AMD AI supercomputer in Europe. Scaleway made the announcement at ai-PULSE 2026.

The system will give startups, AI companies and enterprises across Europe access to AMD GPU capacity for training and inference, widening the choice of chip architectures on a European cloud. Scaleway names a group of partners behind the build: Bull integrating the cluster, from racks and cooling to installation and hardware maintenance; Giga Computing supplying servers; HPE Networking providing Ethernet; VAST Data providing the data platform; and Motul supplying a liquid cooling fluid for high-density AI hardware.

Sweden extends the company's work with Tele2, with which it announced a sovereign European cloud and AI offering in the country. Scaleway cites the country's technology ecosystem and largely low-carbon electricity mix as reasons for the location.

Damien Lucas, CEO of Scaleway, said: “Doing it from Sweden makes this milestone particularly meaningful, as we continue to grow our presence and investment across Europe.”

Stephanie Dismore, Senior Vice President, EMEA at AMD, said Scaleway is expanding the AI infrastructure choices available across Europe with AMD Instinct GPUs and the open ROCm ecosystem. Stefan Trampus, EVP of Tele2 B2B, said the decision strengthens conditions for Swedish organisations to develop and scale AI domestically, and is “a clear signal that Sweden is an attractive location for AI infrastructure.”
