NinjaOne adds Katana AI technician and an MCP server to its IT operations platform

NinjaOne has launched two AI features for its Unified IT Operations Platform. Katana AI is an agentic technician that analyses device telemetry, history, alerts and activity to surface likely root causes and recommend next steps, including remediation actions and scripts, inside the tools technicians already use. The NinjaOne MCP server lets outside AI agents read NinjaOne data and take action in the platform.

The company's case is about control as much as capability. Both features run on the platform's existing permissions and governance, so IT leaders can set what an AI agent can see and what it can do, and technicians can approve actions. NinjaOne says Katana AI draws on a customer's own device history, alert patterns and accumulated resolution knowledge rather than a generic model, and that the architecture is built for token efficiency so customers can predict costs.

Randy Hyder, MSP Manager at Range MSP, is quoted as a customer: “Being able to set what the Katana agent can access and having the ability to approve its actions gives us confidence.”

Matt Hastings, SVP of Product Management at NinjaOne, said: “Our customers told us they would only trust AI with real access to their environments when they could set exactly what it sees and does and verify it for themselves.”

Phil Hochmuth, research VP for endpoint management and enterprise mobility at IDC, said organisations need AI tools tied closely to system infrastructure software, rather than bolted on or observing from outside.

Other AI features in the platform

NinjaOne points to AI-powered vulnerability management and autonomous patch management, cloud recordings from NinjaOne Remote that produce AI-summarised audit trails, and browser management that flags unsanctioned AI use and assesses the risk of extensions. It cites the Verizon 2026 Data Breach Investigations Report for an industry average of 43 days to patch, against minutes with its own tooling, and says it shipped 43 minor and six major releases in the past year.
