Arctic Wolf, Sophos MDR or Huntress for a UK Mid-Market Business Without a SOC

Huntress publishes Managed EDR pricing of $7.99 to $8.99 per endpoint per month while Arctic Wolf and Sophos MDR are quote-only, and the real difference between the three is that Sophos gates full incident response, a contractual SLA and its ransomware-only breach warranty (capped at $1,000,000 a year) behind its higher MDR Plus tier rather than including them at entry level. UK buyers should also weigh Arctic Wolf's much larger published $3 million Security Operations Warranty, and note that all three vendors now have UK-registered legal entities even though Huntress still sells mainly through partners, and get every quote confirmed in sterling with VAT treatment stated in writing.

Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent for landlords under Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

Landlords with combined self-employment and property income above £50,000 must use Making Tax Digital for Income Tax from 6 April 2026. Xero says one organisation can cover both income sources, with its cheapest currently priced plan, Ignite, at £18 a month, while QuickBooks and FreeAgent both require two separate subscriptions, taking the realistic monthly cost to roughly £20 and £29 respectively before VAT.

3CX Gamma Horizon or RingCentral for a UK Small Business Before the 2027 Landline Switch-off

UK small businesses still on analogue lines must move to a cloud phone system before Openreach's 31 January 2027 switch-off, after which business lines get no fallback and old-line rental prices are doubling. 3CX is the cheapest licence per extension for offices with IT support, Gamma Horizon bundles everything through a local accredited partner from around £9.95 a user a month, and RingCentral's £19.99 Standard plan suits offices that want deep CRM and Microsoft 365 integration.

Beacon or Donorfy for a Small UK Charity's Fundraising CRM

For UK charities under 2,000 supporters, Beacon's flat Starter pricing to 2,000 contacts undercuts Donorfy's banded Professional pricing once a charity passes 1,000 constituents, and Beacon also includes case management tools Donorfy lacks. Donorfy's free Essentials tier and Small Donations Scheme support still suit smaller or cash-collection-heavy charities. Both submit Gift Aid claims direct to HMRC and appear on HMRC's official recognised supplier list.

Vector Databases and Graph Databases Explained, and Who Actually Sells Them

This piece explains vector databases (meaning as coordinates, similarity search, retrieval-augmented generation) and graph databases (entities and relationships as first-class records) in plain English, then shows why AI agents moved both from niche to mainstream through RAG, agent memory and GraphRAG, including Microsoft's open-source GraphRAG work. It maps the vendor landscape as checked against vendor sites on 6 August 2026 — Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, Milvus/Zilliz and Chroma; vector search inside Postgres, MongoDB, Elastic, Redis and the hyperscalers including Amazon S3 Vectors; Neo4j, Neptune, Memgraph, Arango, TigerGraph and FalkorDB in graph; Zep, Mem0 and Letta in agent memory — with UK hosting availability, published pricing, the documented cost-unpredictability of usage-based tiers, and the requirement-led questions that decide whether a dedicated purchase is needed at all.
