Halon adds MCP integration so AI agents can investigate email delivery and abuse

Email operations teams can now put questions about delivery and abuse to an AI agent instead of digging through logs. Halon, the Gothenburg-based provider of composable email infrastructure, has introduced its first Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration in the 26.3 release of Halon Engage and Halon Protect.

The integration connects agents that support MCP to Halon's APIs. Teams can ask questions in plain language, schedule routine checks across tenants and destinations, monitor delivery and abuse patterns, and build tailored reports and dashboards.

Halon gives two examples. Engage customers can work out why deliveries to a mailbox provider are backing up. Protect customers can investigate a suspected spam campaign, establish which messages were blocked and find users who may have received them.

For now the integration is read-only, so agents can investigate and report but cannot change configurations or act on queued messages. Halon positions it as a complement to the real-time intelligence already running inside the mail flow, through Delivery Guru and Halon Protect, by analysing system and operational data outside it.

Anders Långsved, Halon's chief executive, said the company wants AI to support its customers' people rather than replace their judgment.
