Telesign, a Proximus Global company, has become a key authentication provider on the Microsoft Security Store, giving organisations a way to keep SMS and voice verification inside Microsoft Entra ID as Microsoft moves to passkeys as the default.
Customers that want to keep using SMS, one-time passwords or voice authentication in Entra ID will need to select a third-party provider through the Security Store ahead of 1 February 2027. Telesign's verification service integrates with Entra ID and is sold as a transactional offer that is billed through customers' existing Azure invoices.
The companies argue that many organisations are not ready to drop older methods. They cite the FIDO Alliance's State of Passkeys report, which found 57% of organisations still rely heavily on voice and SMS authentication. Telesign says it uses network data, phone-number intelligence and real-time risk analysis to protect those methods, and that its relationship with Microsoft goes back 13 years.
Gregor Potocar, president of Protect & Engage at Telesign, said: "If you are a business customer who isn't ready to switch to passkeys just yet, we’ve got you covered."
Ankur Patel, partner product manager for Microsoft Security, said: "Security continuity is key to our ecosystem." He said Telesign's Entra ID integration gives customers verification options as their requirements evolve.
