NetApp and Luxembourg-based emma have agreed a joint offering that pairs NetApp storage with emma's European GPU capacity and cloud operations platform, aimed at organisations that want to run AI without handing control of their data to a single cloud.
NetApp supplies the data layer. emma supplies GPU capacity in its own European data centres, plus the platform that manages distributed infrastructure. Customers can deploy workloads across hyperscalers, emma's infrastructure or private environments while keeping one consistent data foundation.
On the storage side, the NetApp platform, including AI storage built on ONTAP software, provides file and object storage in a single architecture, which NetApp says emma needs for its multi-tenant AI environment. The aim is workload portability across hybrid multicloud setups.
Dmitry Panenkov, founder and CEO of emma, said: “The conversation with European customers has changed. They no longer ask whether to run AI, but where they can run it without losing control of their data”.
Willem Hendrickx, SVP and GM for EMEA and LATAM at NetApp, said: “European enterprises should never have to choose between AI innovation and data sovereignty”.
The announcement was made on 20 October 2026. No pricing or availability dates were given.
