Vertiv brings Dow and Solenis into a fluid management ecosystem for liquid cooling

Vertiv has launched a global ecosystem that pairs its cooling infrastructure and services with coolant and water treatment specialists, so operators can run liquid cooling as one integrated thermal system.

The offer rests on an expanded collaboration with Dow, a materials science company and coolant supplier, through the Dow Coolant Care Network, and a new partnership with Solenis, which provides specialty chemicals and water treatment. Vertiv's monitoring and lifecycle services are combined with fluid chemistry, coolant and water treatment expertise.

Vertiv's argument is that AI workloads are pushing computing density up to the point where liquid cooling is a system-management problem rather than a component choice. Reliability now depends on the whole thermal chain, from heat rejection and chilled water through facility and technology cooling loops, coolant distribution, filtration, leak detection and controls.

Ron Bednar, Senior Vice President of Global and Americas Services at Vertiv, said: "AI is changing liquid cooling from an equipment decision into a system-management imperative".

The six areas the three companies say they will help customers with are designing for compatibility across fluids and materials, establishing clean and stable systems through engineered flushing, precision filling and commissioning, monitoring the thermal system through Vertiv's Next Predict analytics platform, detecting problems early with continuous monitoring and leak detection, tuning performance and water use with analytics, and managing fluid health to cut total cost of ownership. The release gives no pricing or availability date.
