Snowflake and Anthropic report production AI surge as Cortex Code tops 7,100 enterprise users

Enterprises are arriving at a practical answer to a question that plagued early AI deployments: how to run capable models on sensitive business data without exposing it. Snowflake and Anthropic, expanding a partnership first formalised with a $200 million deal in December 2025, say the market is moving fast enough that they are announcing momentum figures rather than future promises.

Snowflake Cortex AI, the product suite that brings Claude models inside the Snowflake data environment, now counts Block, Carvana, eSentire, Indeed, Notion, Basis, and Deloitte among its users running production workloads. Snowflake Cortex Code, a coding agent built on Claude, has passed 7,100 users since launch, a pace the company says exceeds any previous product in its history.

The governance logic is specific. Rather than routing enterprise data to an external model endpoint, Cortex AI keeps Claude inside the Snowflake environment where existing access controls, audit logs, and compliance rules already apply. For organisations in regulated industries this matters practically: Block uses the setup to investigate compliance issues in real time across Square, Cash App, and Afterpay; eSentire uses it to automate Tier 1 security operations centre analysis.

“The rapid adoption of models like Claude through Snowflake Cortex AI reflects a broader shift in what enterprises expect from AI,” said Christian Kleinerman, EVP of Product at Snowflake. “Customers want AI that works directly on their governed data, not in isolated systems. Together with Anthropic, we’re helping organizations move from experimentation to production faster and laying the foundation for the agentic enterprise, where AI, data, and governance work together to drive real business outcomes.”

The companies are also deepening the commercial relationship. Snowflake is one of six launch partners in Anthropic’s Claude Marketplace, letting customers apply existing Anthropic spending commitments toward Cortex AI products. Snowflake Intelligence, a natural-language query agent for enterprise data, runs Claude to convert questions into governed data lookups.

“Snowflake brings the governed data environment enterprises already rely on, and Claude brings the reasoning to put that data to work,” said Steve Corfield, Head of Global Business Development and Partnerships at Anthropic. “Together we’re making it easy for organizations to use trusted AI on their most critical business data.”

The announcements were made at Snowflake Summit 26 in San Francisco on 1 June 2026.
