Commvault's Cloud Rewind now covers 62% of enterprise-relevant Microsoft Azure resource types, a 3x expansion announced today. The tool continuously discovers cloud resources, maps application dependencies, and orchestrates full rebuilds of cloud applications, including the infrastructure and configurations they depend on, from a single platform.
The impetus for wider coverage is direct. According to Absolute Security's 2026 State of Enterprise Cyber Resilience report, 57% of enterprises said recovery from a cyberattack took more than 4.5 days on average. The bottleneck is rarely data: it is the need to manually recreate the environment that held that data. Cloud Rewind automates that reconstruction step, including the option to validate recovery readiness through simulations in isolated, air-gapped environments before an incident occurs.
"In global logistics, every minute of downtime can disrupt supply chains and impact customer trust," said Venkata Sudhakar Nagandla, SVP and Global Head of IT Infrastructure and Cloud at Allcargo Group Companies. "With Cloud Rewind, we don't just recover files — we restore our operational environment in hours, ensuring our customers experience continuity without compromise."
The update also deepens integration between Cloud Rewind and Commvault's existing backup platform, allowing organisations to protect configurations alongside data in a unified workflow. New enhancements cover Azure Kubernetes Service resources, along with a broader set of compute, networking, and application-layer configurations.
The expansion is notable for what it signals about where enterprise cyber resilience investment is heading. As cloud-native architectures grow more complex — with applications composed of dozens of interdependent resource types — the ability to restore data without being able to restore the operational environment that runs it becomes a recovery gap in its own right.
