Velocity extends the Cloudways managed hosting platform beyond WordPress into modern Node.js application workloads. Pricing starts at $20 a month on a persistent, flat-rate basis rather than consumption billing, and the company handles server maintenance, patching, SSL and backups.
Cloudways is part of DigitalOcean Holdings (NYSE: DOCN). The launch extends the company's existing managed hosting model, which has centred on WordPress since the platform launched.
Deployment is Git-based. The offering supports Next.js, Express, server-side rendered and client-side rendered applications, and long-running APIs and backend services. Security is included at no additional cost through Cloudflare Enterprise, a WAF, DDoS protection and malware scanning.
"Developers and agencies tell us they want predictable hosting costs, less infrastructure work, while keeping control of their applications, services and deployments. Velocity brings those needs together in a managed Node.js offering that helps them move from development to production," said Suhaib Zaheer, SVP and General Manager at Cloudways.
"For agencies, understanding hosting costs helps them plan client projects and protect margins. For developers, having the infrastructure managed means more time to build, improve and grow their applications."
The product targets two overlapping segments. Agencies already running client WordPress sites on Cloudways can use Velocity for headless builds and JavaScript frontends without switching hosting providers. Development teams currently managing Node.js on a VPS get a route to production with less infrastructure overhead.
Regal IT, a UK e-commerce agency, used Velocity to take a Shopify application from local development into production. The agency cited the combination of Git-based deployment, managed backups, SSL and patching under a single service, and predictable pricing that gave clearer visibility on hosting costs per project.
Velocity is generally available. Plans start at $20 per month.
