Ask an AI system for a company's revenue and it first has to work out what you mean. Bookings, recognised revenue and annual recurring revenue each follow different calculation rules, and a wrong guess gives a confident wrong answer. AtScale, which sells a universal semantic layer for enterprise AI and analytics, says its new integration with Grok is meant to settle that question before the calculation runs.
The AtScale plugin for Grok Build is available now. It connects through AtScale's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which exposes metrics, dimensions and relationships subject to the user's existing permissions. AtScale Ava asks clarifying questions when a business question is ambiguous, and the AI Computation Engine (ACE) then computes the answer on the customer's existing data platform. Developers can reuse governed metrics in applications, dashboards and analytical workflows rather than rebuilding the logic for each project.
Customers with an existing AtScale deployment can install the plugin from the marketplace listing. The release came as AtScale joined the SpaceX Super Intelligence Partner Network as a Marketplace Partner.
Jay Schuren, President of AtScale, said: "When Grok adds a revenue metric to an application, it should use the same definition Finance uses in the quarterly report." Toni Adams, Head of Partnerships at SpaceXSI, said AtScale brings established business definitions and governed computation to Grok.
AtScale and SpaceXSI say they plan to help more enterprises put AI to work with consistent, governed metrics, though the release sets out no dates or further products.
