Amdocs, the telecoms software supplier listed on the NASDAQ as DOX, has acquired EIS, a San Francisco insurance technology provider, for approximately $340 million in cash. Further consideration may follow if EIS meets certain performance targets. It is Amdocs' first step into the insurance industry.
EIS sells a cloud-native, multi-line platform covering policy administration, billing, claims and customer engagement. Its customers include Aflac, CSAA, Allstate, Desjardins and BNP Paribas Cardif, and its expertise spans both life and annuities and property and casualty cover.
The plan is to take aOS, the agentic operating system Amdocs built for telecoms, and extend it into insurance on top of the EIS platform. Amdocs argues that insurers share the traits that made it successful with operators: regulated environments, mission-critical platforms and data-intensive workflows.
Shimie Hortig, Amdocs' president and chief executive, described the deal as a first step in a wider plan. "Expanding into a new vertical is a key pillar of our growth strategy, and today we are taking an important first step," he said.
Alec Miloslavsky, who founded EIS, said the two companies see the opportunity the same way. "We share Amdocs’ vision of bringing industry-specific AI into core operations."
Amdocs also said Vodafone Business UK, the enterprise arm of VodafoneThree, will use aOS in its core operations, including customer service and product go-to-market. The agentic operating system will be implemented within Vodafone's core business support systems, which Amdocs presents as evidence that aOS can sit on top of existing legacy technology stacks.
The announcement came with Amdocs' results for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. The company reported revenue of $4.53 billion for fiscal 2025.
