Microsoft 365 Copilot Business costs £13.80 per user per month, paid yearly and excluding VAT, until 31 December 2026, against a stated original price of £16.10. Microsoft sells it only as an add-on to an eligible Microsoft 365 Business plan. The combined Business Premium with Copilot bundle is £24.60 per user per month. For a 60-person firm, the add-on alone comes to £9,936 a year before VAT.
How much is a Copilot licence for a UK business?
Microsoft publishes four UK prices that matter to a small firm, all per user per month, paid yearly, excluding VAT, per Microsoft's UK Copilot Business pricing page. The Copilot Business add-on is £13.80 on promotion, from a stated original £16.10. Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot is £18.10. Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot is £24.60.
The promotion runs from 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2026. Microsoft's terms say it applies to the first year only, the subscription auto-renews, and the offer cannot be combined with another offer. These offers are time-limited and were checked on 30 October 2026, so confirm on the brand's own site before you buy.

| Business Premium with Copilot | £24.60 |
What does Business (Premium) actually mean?
Two product names cause most of the confusion. Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is the add-on you attach to a plan you already own. Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot is a single bundle that includes the Microsoft 365 apps, security features and Copilot.
The £24.60 price is therefore not the cost of Copilot alone. Compare it with what you pay today for your existing plan plus the £13.80 or £16.10 add-on. Ask your supplier to quote both routes side by side, including the renewal price.
Is there still a minimum seat requirement?
The UK pricing page does not state a minimum number of seats to buy. It does describe identity and access management for up to 300 users on the Business plans. That is a ceiling on the plan, not an order minimum.
Because the page is silent on a minimum, do not assume one in either direction. Confirm the minimum order quantity in writing with your Microsoft partner before you plan a pilot of a handful of seats.
What will 60 staff cost over a year?
These figures multiply Microsoft's published rates by headcount. They are calculations, not quotes, and they exclude VAT and the underlying Microsoft 365 subscription for the add-on routes.
| Route for 60 users | Per user per month | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copilot Business add-on, promotional | £13.80 | £828 | £9,936 |
| Copilot Business add-on, original price | £16.10 | £966 | £11,592 |
| Business Standard with Copilot | £18.10 | £1,086 | £13,032 |
| Business Premium with Copilot | £24.60 | £1,476 | £17,712 |
Not every employee needs a seat. Start with the roles that spend most of the day in email, documents and meetings, and add seats once you can show repeat use.
What costs extra beyond the licence?
Microsoft says everyday experiences such as chat and Copilot inside the Microsoft 365 apps come with the licence. Some more advanced experiences are billed on usage, on top of the licence fee. The pricing page names Copilot Cowork, Code, Autopilot and the Work IQ APIs as usage-billed today, and adds that more may follow.
If you plan to use custom agents, ask your partner which ones are metered and set a monthly spending cap before anyone builds one.
Why do many firms buy Copilot and see little use?
The licence is the cheap part. Habits are harder. People need role-specific examples, time to practise and a manager who uses the tool too.
A sensible adoption plan for a firm of 60 has four parts. Measure who actually uses Copilot each week before you change anything. Run short sessions built around real tasks such as meeting summaries, first drafts of customer emails and spreadsheet analysis. Name one or two champions in each team. Review seats at renewal and reassign any that stay unused.
Microsoft also notes that Copilot works with data a user already has permission to open. Its Microsoft Learn guide to a secure and governed Copilot foundation recommends checking SharePoint for oversized audiences, broken permission inheritance, inappropriate sharing, and inactive or ownerless sites. Tidy those up before a wide rollout.
How much does user provisioning cost at 10,000 seats?
Provisioning is not one product. Creating accounts, syncing directories and governing joiners, movers and leavers sit in different Microsoft Entra tiers, so check what you already own first. Microsoft's Entra pricing page lists Entra ID P1 at £5.40 and P2 at £7.70 per user per month, excluding VAT. It also lists the Entra Suite at £9.20, which requires P1 or a plan that includes it.
P1 comes with Microsoft 365 E3 and with Business Premium. P2 comes with Microsoft 365 E5. A firm already on E3 would pay twice by buying P1 on its own.

At list price and with no volume discount, P1 for 10,000 users is £54,000 a month, or £648,000 a year. P2 is £77,000 a month, or £924,000 a year. These are calculations from published rates, not quotes. Microsoft says prices may vary with your agreement and that special pricing exists for P2 and E5 customers, so ask your Microsoft representative before you budget from list.
What does a typical UK partner rollout cost and who can help?
No UK source publishes a typical price for a Microsoft 365 enterprise rollout, and none of the pages we checked ranks partners. Services are quoted by the day against a written scope, so treat any single "average" figure with caution. What you can price with confidence is the licence side, shown in the tables above, and then ask each partner for the services side.
For a Copilot rollout into an existing tenant, ask for a priced plan covering permissions clean-up, a pilot, role-based training and review at renewal. For a full Microsoft 365 rollout, ask for discovery, identity design, migration, security configuration, testing, cutover and support, each priced separately. Ask each bidder for a UK customer reference of similar size and the assumptions behind the quoted days. Compare quotes against the same scope and acceptance criteria.
How should a UK firm buy Copilot training?
Ask the Microsoft partner that supplies your licences first, then compare at least one specialist training provider on the same brief. We have not ranked providers, because no public source supports a ranking and few publish prices. Request a quote for a private session sized to your headcount. Ask the provider to use your own approved tasks, and measure repeat use afterwards rather than attendance.
How do Copilot and Azure OpenAI fit together?
Use Microsoft 365 Copilot for staff working in email, documents and meetings. Consider Azure OpenAI Service, which Microsoft now documents within Foundry Models, when you need a custom application. The two are separate purchases, so a Copilot seat does not cover a bespoke tool.
For UK data decisions, read Microsoft Learn's page on deployment types in Foundry Models. It says data stored at rest stays in the Azure geography you choose, while processing depends on the deployment type. Global types can process prompts in any geography where the model is deployed. Data Zone types process within the US, EU or Asia Pacific zone. Standard and Regional Provisioned types process within the geography you specify. Ask your partner to document which type they select, rather than assuming a UK-only guarantee.
Which platform suits a small financial firm?
For a financial firm with fewer than 250 staff already working in Microsoft 365, Business Premium with Copilot at £24.60 is a sensible candidate to evaluate, because the Business plans cover up to 300 users. A product purchase does not make a firm compliant. Match the shortlist to your retention, supervision and support needs, and give each AI use case a named senior owner, as the FCA expects.
What UK rules apply to Copilot at work?
Copilot handles personal data, so UK GDPR applies as it does to any other tool. The ICO keeps guidance on AI and data protection together with an AI and data protection risk toolkit for organisations assessing risks to individuals. Use it when you decide which tasks staff may hand to an assistant.
Financial services firms have a further layer. The FCA says in its good and poor practice review of AI that firms remain responsible for consumer outcomes, including through AI tools they buy from a supplier. It also says smaller firms can govern AI with targeted, proportionate controls and should name accountable owners. A drafting assistant for staff and a tool that influences customer decisions deserve separate approval.
Do staff need Copilot on their phones?
Not as a default. Microsoft lists desktop, web and mobile versions in the Business plans and says mobile app availability varies by country or region. Decide by workflow. A field engineer who dictates site notes on the move has a case. A desk-based finance clerk may not.
Before you switch mobile access on, agree rules for personal devices, company data and lost phones.
What changes next?
The promotional £13.80 price ends on 31 December 2026. If you were planning a purchase, decide before then, and ask what the renewal price will be after the first year. Microsoft says it can change or withdraw the offer at any time, so treat the published figure as a guide until you hold a quote.
