Telxius has added a point of presence at the NAP Caribe data centre in Santo Domingo, connecting the Dominican Republic more directly to its 100,000-kilometre global fibre network. The deployment sits alongside the company's submarine cable landing gateway in Punta Cana, giving carriers, content providers and enterprises in the Caribbean access to Transport, IP, Security and cloud interconnect services.
The Dominican Republic carries the largest internet user base in the Caribbean — 10.2 million people were online as of Q1 2025 according to DataReportal — and the new PoP is positioned to absorb growing traffic volumes from that base alongside regional enterprise demand.
The Santo Domingo site is a carrier-neutral facility. Telxius is offering the full breadth of its interconnect and security portfolio from the location, with direct integration into the wider Telxius backbone across the Americas and Europe.
The expansion follows Telxius's recent network build in Fortaleza, Brazil, and fits a pattern of incremental Caribbean and Latin American densification. The company currently operates 25 carrier-neutral landing gateways and edge data centres globally.
