Stack Overflow has launched a new version of Stack Internal, its enterprise knowledge platform, adding machine-readable trust scores, broader integrations, and governance tools designed to give AI agents access to verified rather than merely abundant information.
The update addresses a problem that has become more acute as AI agents move from answering questions to taking actions: decisions built on unverified or contradictory knowledge carry real consequences. Stack Internal’s approach is to evaluate knowledge using signals including provenance, recency, expertise, corroboration and human validation, then surface a trust score that agents can use to determine how reliable a piece of knowledge is and whether further review is warranted.
“Enterprise AI doesn’t need access to more information, people and agents need verified knowledge they can confidently trust,” said Jody Bailey, Stack Overflow’s Chief Product and Technology Officer. “Stack Internal curates technical knowledge inside the enterprise by preserving critical context, validating it with the right experts, and delivering it where work happens.”
The new release introduces a Microsoft Teams connector alongside updated Slack and Google Docs connectors, a new ingestion API, and an MCP server that delivers verified knowledge to compatible AI tools including Claude and Codex. Expert validation is now handled through automated workflows: when a knowledge gap is identified, the system alerts the relevant expert in Slack, who can confirm or update knowledge directly from that interface.
The platform also introduces expanded audit and governance controls. Custom roles and permissions allow administrators to manage knowledge access, while exportable audit trails provide full visibility into the knowledge behind agent decisions. A new knowledge health dashboard tracks metrics including helpful answer rate and daily active users.
Anyone can now create a free Starter workspace connecting up to three knowledge sources. The platform builds on Stack Overflow’s nearly two decades of managing technical knowledge at scale; Stack Internal currently serves more than 15,000 organisations.
