Sage Intacct adds AI Gateway, 3-way AP matching, and SaaS analytics overhaul in May 2026 release

The May 2026 Sage Intacct release arrives as Gartner research finds 88% of CFOs ranking finance staff productivity among their top priorities for 2026, with most still dealing with disconnected systems that slow cash-flow management and decision cycles.

The highest-profile addition is Sage Intacct AI Gateway, now generally available in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. It uses REST APIs and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) open standard to let customers and partners connect external AI applications directly to Sage Intacct data while keeping those connections within defined roles, permissions, and workflow controls. The intent is to make it easier for organisations to layer their own AI tooling on top of existing financial data without moving sensitive records to a third-party system.

"High-performing finance teams are no longer just closing the books and reporting on what happened," said Jon Fasoli, SVP of Sage Intacct at Sage. "They are expected to improve cash flow, guide decisions and keep the business moving, all while maintaining strong control. These latest Sage Intacct updates help reduce manual effort across day-to-day finance operations by embedding automation and AI directly into the workflows teams rely on most, improving visibility and helping organisations respond faster while maintaining strong operational oversight and control."

On the accounts payable side, 3-Way Matching is now generally available globally. The feature uses AI-driven automation to link invoices, purchase orders, and receipts, compare prices and quantities, and flag discrepancies for review before payment — reducing the reconciliation load that typically falls on AP staff.

Three further features are entering Early Adopter programmes. Payment Reminders surfaces customers with open or overdue invoices in a single view and allows one-click or bulk reminder emails to go out. Custom Approvals in Purchasing lets organisations build multi-condition routing rules based on vendor, amount, department, and location. SaaS Intelligence 2.0 updates the analytics layer with enhanced AI-powered forecasting, cohort analysis, and customer segmentation across ARR and MRR data.

"As organisations look to modernise finance operations, finance teams need better visibility across day-to-day workflows while also gaining faster access to meaningful insights," said Chris Price, Director of SaaS Vertical at Baker Tilly. "These latest Sage Intacct updates combine workflow automation with enhanced SaaS Intelligence analytics to help organisations operate with greater confidence, gain more actionable insights, and improve strategic decision-making at scale."
