Rocket Software has been named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Intelligent Content Services 2026, with recognition anchored on its ContentEdge platform's approach to making mainframe-resident content available to AI systems without requiring organisations to move or migrate their data.
The IDC MarketScape vendor assessment, published in September 2026, evaluates content services providers on the basis of their ability to address AI-driven automation, hybrid cloud modernisation and governance requirements. Rocket Software's inclusion is framed around ContentEdge, the company's content services portfolio covering Mobius, Rocket Cypress, EOS, Rocket Content Automation and Audit and Analytics Services.
ContentEdge is designed for enterprises operating under the constraint that much of their most valuable content is distributed across mainframe systems, regulated archives and business applications that cannot be easily consolidated or migrated. Rather than requiring a platform shift, it connects existing repositories and brings content management, automation, governance and conversational AI capabilities to those data estates as they stand.
The commercial pressure is direct: enterprises in finance, healthcare and government that cannot expose mainframe-resident content to AI assistants face a growing capability gap as AI adoption accelerates across those sectors. AI systems that cannot demonstrate lineage and access controls for the answers they generate face adoption resistance precisely where governance requirements are strictest.
Amy Machado, research director for content and knowledge discovery strategies at IDC, cited the ability to modernise mainframe-adjacent content workloads while meeting enterprise security requirements as the primary basis for Rocket Software's positioning. Rocket Software serves more than 13,500 customers and is a portfolio company of Bain Capital Private Equity.
