For organisations mid-migration to S/4HANA Cloud, that matters: custom core modifications are the primary source of upgrade complexity and technical debt.

The certification covers SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition environments, where classic ABAP-based extensions remain common. Precisely Automate is also compatible with RISE with SAP, so organisations using SAP's cloud-transition programme retain clean core compliance as they move to cloud-based ERP.
Timing is pointed. Research from Precisely and the American SAP User Group found that 57% of surveyed organisations are adopting automation to support their S/4HANA transition, and 62% identify business process complexity as a major challenge. The certification is partly a response to that finding: enterprises that need to automate high-volume operations during migration have previously faced a choice between speed and upgrade safety. The certification argues they can have both.
For business users the pitch is self-service automation with governance built in — validation, logging, and auditability without requiring IT or custom development at each step.
