Pega tops Gartner's ability-to-execute ranking for business orchestration and automation

The Magic Quadrant, which evaluated 20 vendors across seven criteria, also saw Pega achieve the highest scores in the accompanying Critical Capabilities report for both Case Management and Adaptive Work use cases. Gartner defines business orchestration and automation technology (BOAT) as a consolidated platform that orchestrates and automates business processes with varying degrees of autonomy, now explicitly requiring native capabilities for AI agent orchestration and governance.

The recognition covers Pega Infinity, the company's enterprise AI suite. Constituent products include Pega Blueprint, a design agent that draws on Claude, GPT and Gemini to model workflow changes; Pega Agentic Process Fabric, which coordinates multiple agents across automated work; Pega Process AI, focused on back-end process optimisation; and Predictable AI agents for document handling and intake tasks.

"AI becomes effective when given a harness that orchestrates agent work, ensuring agents operate in the right context, collaborate seamlessly, and deliver trusted outcomes," said Kerim Akgonul, chief product officer at Pega. "We believe this recognition from Gartner reflects Pega's unique ability to combine AI agents with the workflow orchestration, governance, and controls organisations need to confidently drive meaningful business transformation."

The BOAT category, previously labelled Business Process Management or Intelligent Business Process Management, received its current name as analyst coverage of agentic AI governance has intensified. Pega also holds recent Leader or Strong Performer positions in Gartner and Forrester reports covering process intelligence, real-time interaction management, digital process automation and AI decisioning platforms.
