Dots are persistent AI agents powered by the GPT-6 Astra model, each assigned their own cloud computer. They learn from user feedback over time, work across connected apps and existing context, and can make progress on tasks proactively without being prompted. Dots are initially available to Business Premium subscribers in supported ChatGPT regions, excluding the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
ChatGPT Space gives teams a shared environment where colleagues, ChatGPT and a team Dot can work from the same context, with uploaded files and shared work kept in a single organised location. The announcement also included GPT-6.1 Sol, a major upgrade to GPT-6 Sol with improved performance on agentic coding, computer use and professional tasks, available at around one-fifth the cost of Astra.
Sign in with ChatGPT allows Plus and Pro subscribers to use their existing account to run OpenAI models within 16 partner tools, including Notion, Vercel and Cognition, without configuring an API key. A new plugin extensions framework lets developers build applications that integrate natively into the ChatGPT interface, with options for sidebar placement, interactive panels and custom file viewers.
The updates were presented at OpenAI's annual DevDay conference, which drew 2,500 developers to San Francisco. OpenAI describes the shift as moving from reactive AI assistance toward what it calls active intelligence, where AI systems take on work without waiting to be asked.
