The update moves Malwarebytes Mobile Security beyond traditional malware detection into a set of scam-prevention tools designed to intercept threats before users engage with them.
New features include enhanced Scam Text Protection, which now reviews message content for suspicious patterns such as romance themes or money requests, and scans shortened URLs for malicious destinations. Call Protection screens incoming calls against known scam and spam numbers with options to auto-block or flag them; the feature is live on iOS and coming soon to Android. Android users gain a Junk Cleaner to remove unnecessary files and shrink the attack surface; iOS users gain expanded Safari ad blocking that filters Google Sponsored Ads, a vector frequently abused by spam campaigns.
The launch builds on a platform that already includes Scam Guard, Digital Footprint Scanner, Privacy VPN, Trusted Advisor and malware scanning for Android. Malwarebytes detected more than 800,000 malware variants for Android last year and expects the figure to exceed one million this year.
The backdrop is a scam landscape being reshaped by AI. Malwarebytes research finds one in two people feel unprepared for AI-driven scams, while Scam Guard data puts phone-call assisted social engineering among the top five scam types. The company is layering detection capabilities rather than shipping discrete antivirus features.
For iOS, where traditional malware scanning is not permitted by Apple, the updated platform provides Call and Text Protection, Jailbreak Detection, insecure Wi-Fi monitoring, malicious site blocking and ad filtering as the primary protection layer. Safe Browsing now supports Brave, DuckDuckGo, Edge and Outlook in addition to Safari.
