UK identity and cybersecurity specialist Kocho has brought in Steven Jones as Chief Technology Officer, as the company enters what it calls the next phase of its identity-led strategy. Jones joins from Ensono, where he led digital consulting practices spanning identity, application development, and data and AI.
Jones spent ten years at Amido — latterly absorbed into Ensono — most recently as Vice President of Digital Consulting. His work spanned workforce and customer identity platform implementations across insurance, retail, financial services, and critical national infrastructure. Before that, he worked in product and software development within supply chain and retail.
Kocho has built its business around the Microsoft identity and security stack since its inception, positioning identity as the technical and commercial foundation rather than a bolt-on capability. The CTO hire reflects a deliberate push to keep architecture aligned with Microsoft's roadmap at the executive level — a task that becomes more complicated as identity extends from traditional workforce accounts into non-human environments: service accounts, workloads, and what the company refers to as "agentic systems."
Jones will own Kocho's technology strategy, architectural oversight, and the evolution of its managed and professional service propositions, including the Alira Access Portal. Hannah Birch, CEO at Kocho, said: "Steven brings a rare combination of deep identity expertise and practical delivery leadership. As Identity continues to shape how organisations think about security and resilience, his experience will be central to how we evolve our services and support our clients."

For his part, Jones described the appointment as timely: "Identity has never been more central to how organisations protect themselves and enable their people. I'm joining Kocho at a moment when that conversation is really accelerating, and I'm looking forward to working with the team to help our customers build lasting identity maturity — not just implementing solutions, but ensuring those foundations are robust, scalable and genuinely fit for the threats they face. Kocho's heritage in this space and its relationship with Microsoft make it the perfect platform to do just that."
Kocho is headquartered in London with offices in Cardiff and Cape Town, serving regulated and complex sectors across the UK and internationally.
