KDDI America and KDDI Europe have launched a 24/7 managed detection and response service built around agentic AI and delivered through a partnership with Exaforce, targeting businesses that need enterprise-grade security operations without the cost structure of a legacy SOC.
The service covers endpoints, networks, SaaS applications and identity access management from a single platform. Rather than generating alerts and investigating afterwards, the system correlates identities, files, permissions and resource provenance as data arrives, shortening the investigation cycle.
KDDI positions the service against two specific pressures: AI-enabled attacks that overwhelm human-speed triage, and tightening breach-reporting windows under regulations including NIS2 and GDPR. Contractual SLAs are aligned to those reporting deadlines, with documented escalation procedures to support compliance teams.
"While organisations face increased regulatory demands, cyber-criminals are using AI to launch more sophisticated attacks at higher volume and speed," said Tetsuya Nakamura, Chief Technology Officer of KDDI America. "SOCs relying entirely on human skill struggle to keep pace amid a shortage of talent, causing alert fatigue, blind spots and slower response times."
The service is built on Exaforce's platform, which combines pattern-matching AI with rules-based reasoning to correlate events at enterprise scale. Certified analysts sit alongside the automated layer for judgment and context, with human oversight built into the escalation workflow.
KDDI Corporation is a Fortune Global 500 company and one of Japan's largest telecommunications providers. Its American and European subsidiaries have offered managed connectivity and cloud services to multinational customers for several years; this MDR launch extends those into active security operations.
