IT teams managing large Mac deployments now face a new category of endpoint risk: AI tools running locally, in browsers, and through cloud APIs, often without any centralised oversight. Jamf is adding an AI governance layer to address it.
Jamf has announced a slate of platform innovations at its 17th annual Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC) in Kansas City, centred on AI governance for Apple enterprise environments. The company supports more than 35 million devices across over 78,000 organisations and was joined on stage by Apple, Anthropic and AWS.
The lead announcement is AI Governance, generally available today. It lets organisations discover AI tools running across managed Macs, set and enforce policies for how those tools can be used, and generate audit-ready reporting for internal governance, boards and regulators. The capability builds on a first-of-its-kind AI control plane Jamf launched in June.
Four additional AI governance capabilities are planned for Q4 2026: deeper activity insights that allow admins to investigate flagged AI use down to the device, user and command line; usage and cost insights showing estimated spend by tool, model and provider without capturing prompts or responses; browser governance extending visibility and control into Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox; and on-device AI deployment, letting IT deploy inference engines and local models via Blueprints so AI workloads run on Apple silicon without data leaving the device.
"IT teams are managing more endpoints and more complexity than ever, and now that includes the AI tools running on those same devices," said Beth Tschida, CEO of Jamf. "We want Jamf to handle more of that routine work automatically, saving admins time while giving them real visibility into what AI is actually doing across that fleet."
Beyond AI governance, JNUC 2026 introduced a Platform API Gateway providing unified API access for Blueprints, Compliance Benchmark and Device APIs, and a Terraform provider for GitOps-style administration. Automated app lifecycle management through Blueprints will install and update curated Mac apps automatically. For frontline workforces, Jamf Tap allows employees to tap an RFID or NFC employee badge to receive an assigned device and sign into apps automatically, with public beta targeted for Q1 2027.
