Data sovereignty has shifted from compliance checkbox to boardroom agenda item across Australian enterprise, and managed hosting providers are repositioning accordingly. Hyve Managed Hosting's entry into the market, with live data centres in Sydney and Melbourne delivered via Equinix, is among the more concrete recent responses to that shift.
The UK-headquartered provider confirmed both Australian facilities are now operational, with capacity to expand as customer demand grows. The launches are paired with a local commercial presence: Hyve has secured office space in Sydney, with a move to a Bondi Junction location expected in October 2026. The company is building out local sales, technical support, and engineering teams from that base.
The services on offer are Hyve's standard portfolio — Virtual Private Cloud, Private Cloud, and managed security — applied to Australian customers who need data to remain under Australian jurisdiction rather than merely housed in in-country facilities. That distinction matters for regulated industries, where physical location and legal jurisdiction do not always align.
One early customer in financial services pointed to regulatory alignment as the deciding factor. Megan Phillips, Head of Customer Delivery at Enterprise Cash Management, said: "For a financial services business, knowing our regional Infrastructure hub is hosted in Australia is incredibly important. It enables us to meet data residency and regulatory requirements, while also delivering the performance our customers expect. Hyve's track record for reliability and security gave us confidence they understood the standards our business demands, and we're excited to work with a partner that combines local infrastructure with the expertise to support our long-term growth."
Angus Jones, Hyve's Managing Director for APAC, described the timing as deliberate: "We are really excited to be launching in Australia at a time when organisations are looking for a simpler and more accountable approach to managing cloud infrastructure. With live data centre locations in Sydney and Melbourne, a Sydney office in development and our full Hyve portfolio available locally, we are ideally placed to help Australian organisations run critical workloads with confidence and control from day one."
Hyve is also exploring a third Australian location in Perth as part of a longer-term regional expansion. The entry follows a recently announced collaboration with Red Hat to deliver a managed OpenShift platform aimed at infrastructure modernisation and AI readiness.
