Free online assessment scores enterprise visibility of IT change control

Enterprise IT teams routinely approve changes, but establishing what actually happened across a complex estate, and whether it matched expectations, is an increasingly difficult challenge. A free two-minute online assessment, launched on 7 October 2026, gives IT, security and change management leaders a personalised score out of 100 that benchmarks their visibility of IT change and highlights where their controls fall short.

The IT Change Visibility Score, from London-based configuration management specialist Cloudhouse, is generated from ten questions covering how quickly teams can identify configuration changes, their ability to distinguish expected from unexpected activity, visibility across environments, and access to evidence. Results include targeted recommendations for strengthening change control.

The tool reflects a broader industry pressure point: as hybrid and multi-cloud environments grow in complexity, manually tracking what changed, when, and whether it was authorised is no longer practical at scale. Regulatory frameworks such as DORA and NIS2 have raised the bar for auditability and incident response, pushing teams to move from reactive investigation to proactive visibility.

Cloudhouse, founded in 2010 and ranked 13th in the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50, developed the underlying technology behind the AWS End-of-Support Migration Programme for Windows Server. Its customers include National Grid, Royal Mail, NASA and the NYSE. The IT Change Visibility Score draws on its Guardian platform, which provides continuous monitoring of configuration changes across the estate.

Jonathan Dedman, Director at Cloudhouse, frames the assessment around the gap between approval processes and ground truth: “Most organisations have processes for approving change, but that is only one side of the equation. You also need to know what actually happened across the estate and whether it matched what you expected. As environments become more complex, establishing that manually becomes much harder.”

The score is available free at cloudhouse.com/what-is-your-configuration-visibility-score/ and takes approximately two minutes to complete. Organisations that complete the assessment are offered a 30-day free trial of Guardian Essentials for continuous monitoring of configuration changes.
