DE-CIX completes Mexico Cloud Exchange tri-hyperscaler lineup with Google Cloud

Mexico's enterprises can now reach Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and AWS through a single neutral interconnection point, after DE-CIX expanded its Cloud Exchange in Mexico City and Querétaro this week to include Google Cloud via its DirectCLOUD service.

The move completes what DE-CIX is billing as a fully integrated multi-cloud hub for the region. The exchange, in operation for just over a year, has seen cloud traffic grow more than 400% since the start of 2026, with peak throughput now approaching 300 Gbit/s.

Mexican enterprises can reach Google Cloud alongside Microsoft Azure and AWS through direct, private connections rather than the public internet. DE-CIX already offered the Google Verified Peering Provider (VPP) service for access to Google Workspace and related services, and the Microsoft Azure Peering Service (MAPS) for Microsoft 365 and Dynamics; the new Google Cloud DirectCLOUD connection extends that reach to Google Cloud compute and platform services. Demand for the VPP service has already been strong enough to trigger a capacity upgrade within weeks of its introduction.

The exchange spans multiple data centres in Mexico City and Querétaro, and through its backbone connection to DE-CIX Dallas, also reaches IBM Cloud and DE-CIX's North American ecosystem — including DE-CIX New York, the continent's third-largest internet exchange.

"The availability of DE-CIX's distributed data center and carrier neutral interconnection platform in Mexico is transforming the connectivity landscape of the country," said Omar Vega, Country Sales Director for DE-CIX Mexico. "Mexican enterprises can use our Cloud Exchange for automated, scalable, and redundant private connectivity to all relevant cloud service providers, either directly through us or through our extensive national and global partner ecosystem."

Mexico's position as a cloud and AI hub for Latin America has been accelerating this year, driven partly by nearshoring demand and partly by the growing requirement for low-latency compute to support AI workloads. DE-CIX, founded in Frankfurt in 1995 and now operating in 60 locations across five continents, has been expanding its Cloud Exchange footprint across Latin America as that demand has grown.
