Cohesity and HPE deepen seven-year partnership with new resell deals and a US government anchor

The US Defense Information Systems Agency selected HPE earlier this year to deploy a secure sovereign cloud spanning multiple security domains, with Cohesity providing data protection across the platform. Today, the two companies announced the commercial expansion sitting beneath that programme: new reciprocal resell agreements, deeper product integrations, and a broader push into the hybrid cloud market.

The deal runs in both directions. Cohesity will begin reselling HPE Zerto, a continuous data protection product with near-instant recovery for virtualised and cloud workloads, adding sub-second RPO capabilities to its own AI-powered data security stack. In the other direction, HPE will extend its existing resale of Cohesity DataProtect — designed for purpose-built HPE hardware — to include Cohesity NetBackup, which is optimised for disaggregated backup architectures including HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000 and StoreOnce systems.

A third integration adds support for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials and Morpheus Enterprise, HPE's virtualisation and cloud management layer, with general availability targeted for mid-2026.

Sanjay Poonen, CEO and President of Cohesity, framed the alliance in terms of customer recovery speed: "Enterprises everywhere want to confidently and quickly protect and recover their most critical data, and that's precisely what we're going to enable by pairing HPE's trusted hybrid cloud infrastructure with Cohesity's AI-powered data security platform."

The European side of the partnership has already been moving quickly. Cohesity named HPE its FY25 Europe OEM Partner of the Year on the back of 177% year-over-year growth in software sales across the region. Fraser Hutchison, VP UK&I at Cohesity, pointed specifically to the complexity UK organisations are managing: "The partnership with HPE will help UK customers simplify data management and enhance resilience to better address the growing complexity of today's business landscape. Our combined solutions are bringing together infrastructure, data protection, and recovery into a more comprehensive portfolio to empower organisations to more confidently run their business across hybrid and multicloud environments with more efficiency and less risk."
