AHEAD, a US-based provider of AI-driven cloud, data, infrastructure, and security platforms, opened its Foundry facility in Reading on Monday, completing the infrastructure side of what the company is calling a coordinated EMEA expansion.
The facility handles the assembly, integration, configuration, testing, and validation of rack solutions and supporting hardware before deployment — work that until now had to happen at greater distance from European customers. Combined with Hatch, AHEAD's IT lifecycle management platform, clients get visibility across every asset and shipment regardless of where infrastructure is built or sent.
The opening follows two earlier moves: the acquisition of Netherlands-based Prolimax and the hire of Paul Allen as Executive Vice President of Sales, EMEA. Together, the three elements give AHEAD a regional operating model rather than just a sales presence.
"Opening our doors today is about entering the EMEA market with proven capabilities already in place, not simply establishing a new location," said Allen. "Our Reading Foundry is fully operational from day one, enabling customers to locally build, integrate, validate, and deploy the complex AI infrastructure they need, while benefiting from the same industrialised delivery model, quality, speed, and consistency that AHEAD customers have come to expect. European organisations no longer have to choose between local execution and global consistency; AHEAD is delivering both."
The timing reflects broader pressure on enterprise AI infrastructure procurement. Supply chain uncertainty and distributed IT environments have made local production capability a differentiator rather than a nice-to-have — particularly for organisations running large-scale AI or HPC deployments across multiple sites.

Adrian McDonald, President of Dell Technologies EMEA, called the UK opening a way for customers to "turn ambition into action" as organisations seek trusted partners to accelerate AI adoption.
AHEAD's Foundry model has operated in the United States for several years; the Reading site brings the same production methodology to European deployments, serving the UK and broader European market from a single facility.
