AccountsIQ research finds 82% of finance leaders in the UK and Ireland feel under pressure to adopt AI in their finance function faster than they are comfortable with, even though 81% say they fully or mostly trust AI-driven outputs. For 41% the pressure is significant.
The pressure is highest in Ireland, where 91.5% of finance leaders feel it, against 80.3% in the UK. Some 76% are concerned that their organisation could become overly reliant on AI in finance decision-making.
Darren Cran, CEO of AccountsIQ, said: “Finance leaders are being asked to move on AI at the speed of the conversation around it.” He added that controls in finance mean knowing where a number came from and who approved it, and that a fast timetable can leave little room for them.
The CFO Mindset 2026 survey was run by Censuswide among 1,036 senior finance decision-makers at companies with 20 to 500 employees, 836 of them in the UK and 200 in Ireland. AccountsIQ sells cloud accounting software to mid-market businesses.
